Obama's nomination claim

This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal...

If all that was going to happen with the nomination of Barack Obama, you would think he could stop a little oil from spilling into the Gulf.

When is Obama just going to put on the damn wetsuit and go down there and fix the problem?

Barack Obama explains his job

By JAMES TARANTO

What exactly is the job of the president of the United States? Let's ask the man who currently holds that position, Barack Obama:
My job right now is just to make sure that everybody in the Gulf understands this is what I wake up to in the morning and this is what I go to bed at night thinking about: the spill.

Obama's job description is fascinating. He has been depicted as a proponent of "activist government," but this may be a bum rap. Now he tells us he thinks that if he somehow gets people to think about him and how much he's thinking about what he thinks they think he should be thinking about, his job is done.

Which raises only two questions: First, if the requirements of his job are so modest, why is he still having trouble meeting them? Second, couldn't all this cogitation be done at a cost of less than $3.5 trillion a year?

He Was Supposed to Be Competent

The spill is a disaster for the president and his political philosophy.
By PEGGY NOONAN

I don't see how the president's position and popularity can survive the oil spill. This is his third political disaster in his first 18 months in office. And they were all, as they say, unforced errors, meaning they were shaped by the president's political judgment and instincts.

There was the tearing and unnecessary war over his health-care proposal and its cost. There was his day-to-day indifference to the views and hopes of the majority of voters regarding illegal immigration. And now the past almost 40 days of dodging and dithering in the face of an environmental calamity. I don't see how you politically survive this.

The president, in my view, continues to govern in a way that suggests he is chronically detached from the central and immediate concerns of his countrymen. This is a terrible thing to see in a political figure, and a startling thing in one who won so handily and shrewdly in 2008. But he has not, almost from the day he was inaugurated, been in sync with the center. The heart of the country is thinking each day about A, B and C, and he is thinking about X, Y and Z. They're in one reality, he's in another.

The disaster in the Gulf may well spell the political end of the president and his administration, and that is no cause for joy. It's not good to have a president in this position—weakened, polarizing and lacking broad public support—less than halfway through his term. That it is his fault is no comfort. It is not good for the stability of the world, or its safety, that the leader of "the indispensable nation" be so weakened.

IG report: Meth, porn use by drilling agency staff. And this happened under Obama's nose? Shocking!

WASHINGTON – Staff members at an agency that oversees offshore drilling accepted tickets to sports events, lunches and other gifts from oil and gas companies and used government computers to view pornography, according to an Interior Department report alleging a culture of cronyism between regulators and the industry.

In at least one case, an inspector for the Minerals Management Service admitted using crystal methamphetamine and said he might have been under the influence of the drug the next day at work, according to the report by the acting inspector general of the Interior Department.

The report cites a variety of violations of federal regulations and ethics rules at the agency's Louisiana office. Previous inspector general investigations have focused on inappropriate behavior by the royalty-collection staff in the agency's Denver office.

The report adds to the climate of frustration and criticism facing the Obama administration in the monthlong oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, although it covers actions before the spill. Millions of gallons of oil are gushing into the Gulf, endangering wildlife and the livelihoods of fishermen, as scrutiny intensifies on a lax regulatory climate.

Laughing At Obama

From the moment he appeared on the national stage, through his inevitable nomination, to his historic election, triumphant coronation and landmark first year in office, Barack Obama has possessed everything a great leader needs...save one.

His only inadequacy has been the dearth of citizens willing to openly laugh at him.

ScrappleFace.com editor Scott Ott's newest work, "Laughing at Obama: Volume I" fills that void and provides readers of all political stripes with their just entitlement...our generation's great American birthright, to mock Barack Obama.

Be among the first in your office, neighborhood, or environmentally-sensitive transit pool to read this first-draft of the history of our 44th president...an edition destined to be bronzed and placed in the atrium of the Obama Presidential Library (either in Detroit, Guantanamo Bay or Crawford, Texas).

Read "Laughing at Obama" even before he takes full ownership of the presidency which he inherited from George W. Bush (if that should happen).

Gulf Oil Spill

I can guarantee you that those who are protesting the loudest over the Gulf oil spill don't really care a bit about the environment or about how much oil they are actually consuming. These are the people that fly all over the world, probably for vacation, but they are just as likely attending a global warming conference espousing how the American energy policy is so evil. Do you know how much fuel it takes to keep a 747 in the air? (Answer: 11 tons of fuel per hour). They have probably condemned the nuclear energy industry, believe that coal is an environmental disaster, and that wind and solar is the savior of the planet. So why don't the proponents of green energy unplug from the electrical grid and the natural gas pipeline and put a windmill and some solar panels on their roof? They probably have a Prius in the driveway so they can proclaim their green awareness. I'm sure Al Gore has several parked outside his $9 million dollar estate. Who said proclaiming the Gospel of Green doesn't pay?
Has our Chief Obamunist done anything to improve our energy situation? He has condemned the oil companies, condemned off shore drilling, condemned coal, condemned nuclear... what is left? Maybe we could harness hamsters and their little wheels, but I'm sure animal rights activists would have something to say about that.

5 Worst Oil Spills in History Exxon Valdez in Alaska doesn't even make the list. Just FYI.

Not to digress from my rant on Liberal Envirowhackos, but has Gitmo been closed?... uh no. After the complete sh**storm over the Patriot Act.. the chief Obamunist signed it again with no changes whatsoever. How about waterboarding?,, oh we got around that one by just outright killing US citizens in Pakistan. No trial, no jury, no verdict. Nice solution.

What an imbecile.

"Press Freedom, sure... just don't ask me any questions about it." Is he not smart enough to answer any questions from the press?

There was some rich irony at the White House today -- President Obama signed the Press Freedom Act, and then promptly refused to take any questions.

The new law expands the State Department's annual human rights reports to include a description of press freedoms in each country. It seemed a good opportunity to showcase press freedom in this country.

Recall that last Friday the president refused to take any questions after delivering his angry statement on the oil spill in the Rose Garden. And he has not held a prime-time White House news conference in many months, despite much pleading from pundits and members of the media.

THIS FROM CBS NEWS! Even CBS NEWS is figuring out that OBAMUNISM sucks.

U.S. Decision to Approve Killing of Cleric Causes Unease
By SCOTT SHANE Read it here

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s decision to authorize the killing by the Central Intelligence Agency of a terrorism suspect who is an American citizen has set off a debate over the legal and political limits of drone missile strikes, a mainstay of the campaign against terrorism.

The notion that the government can, in effect, execute one of its own citizens far from a combat zone, with no judicial process and based on secret intelligence, makes some legal authorities deeply uneasy.

The Left is a bunch of hypocrites.

Obama's Last Commencement Address

This weekend, Obama told the graduates of Virginia’s Hampton University:

“You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter,” Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.

“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.

He bemoaned the fact that “some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction,” in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets. [Not to mention the clamor of the MSM itself. --Ed]

“All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy.

IPODS, IPADS, XBOXES and PLAYSTATIONS!?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me? This is the best advice that our brilliant president can come up with in an address to graduates? How about something about our current economic situation or foreign policy or our vigilence in fighting terrorism? Geez, this from the guy that is supposed to be our smartest president ever? In the future, what self-repecting university is going to ask this guy to speak? They might get an address on how the Smurfs were bad for our children. I've said it before, I'll say it again,, this guy is an imbecile.
